Description of the organisation

The SDG2 Advocacy Hub, a Secretariat connecting, convening and catalysing civil society, the private sector and UN agencies to coordinate global campaigning and advocacy to achieve SDG2 and accelerate food systems transformation. The Secretariat is a global organisation, with staff working remotely across several continents.

Purpose of the role:

Support to the Chief of Strategy and Special Projects, this role will work to advance the SDG2 Advocacy Hub with its food champion work, including  the facilitation of the Chefs’ Manifesto network, development and delivery of the Chefs’ Manifesto Action Plan, organising Action Hubs and any related food champion projects globally.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Chief of Strategy:
    • On all Food Champion Events
      • Support in curating events and key global moments
      • Draft programme agendas
      • Write speaker talking points that are content relevant
      • Write briefs for food champion advocates
      • Draft email invitations and manage RSVP lists
      • Assist in all relevant logistical coordination
    • To create a Chefs’ Manifesto Ambassador Programme
      • Grant writing to fund the Chefs’ Manifesto Ambassador Programme
    • To create, develop, fund and promote a new series of the Chefs’ Manifesto podcast
  • Complete daily, weekly and monthly administerial tasks such as writing e-newsletters, accepting new members, and onboarding new network members.
  • Update the website with relevant food champion events, relevant food systems/thematic thought-leadership articles, recipes and other relevant content.
  • Assess, evaluate, critique, and create new and more efficient ways to onboard and connect with new members.
  • Support social media related to Chefs’ Manifesto, other food champions and related communications activities and events by providing strategic input and drafting materials where necessary.
  • Building and maintaining partnerships and facilitating the network
  • Support priority food champion campaigns and policy areas such as Beans is How and Hungry for Action.
  • Support on the rollout and coordination of the Beans is How Menu Challenge in key priority areas and building a wider global recipe base.
  • Lead on sorting food images in our internal filing system for more effective use.
  • Write reports as required.
  • Perform other duties and project deliverables as assigned.
Skills & Competencies needed:
  • Exceptional written, communication, and project management skills.
  • Higher degree in project management, event management, international development consultancy or related social science fields OR equivalent employment experience (food systems/advocacy/fund-raising/events) – minimum 5 years.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to self-edit written work.
  • A good understanding of advocacy, campaign development and implementation.
  • A working knowledge of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Fluent in English (written and oral).
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of chefs and other food networks globally.
  • Report writing experience.
  • Grant writing experience.
  • Writing experience for a variety of audiences.
  • Using WordPress for building website content.
  • In-depth understanding of current social media tactics and trends.
  • Food systems knowledge and experience.
  • Multi-lingual.
Other Considerations:

Location – India / SouthEast Asia All positions are remote working from home.

Salary – Competitive contract to be discussed, dependent on experience and location.

 

Initial Term – 6 months contract (with the possibility of extension), with 3-month probation which will be reviewed in full, at milestone dates.
