From June to October 2025, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Food Programme (WFP) warn of a significant deterioration in acute food insecurity across 13 countries and territories identified as hunger hotspots.

Persistent global economic fragility, high debt burdens, geopolitical instability, and trade disruptions are driving worsening conditions in many of these areas.

Key takeaways:

🔴 Highest concern levels:
Sudan, Palestine, South Sudan, Haiti, and Mali face the most critical levels of food insecurity and require immediate and urgent humanitarian action.

🟠 Very high concern levels:
Yemen, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Myanmar, and Nigeria also demand urgent attention to save lives and prevent further deterioration.

🟡 Other hotspots:
Burkina Faso, Chad, Somalia, and the Syrian Arab Republic remain areas of serious concern.

➡️ Timely and targeted humanitarian response is essential to prevent famine, protect livelihoods, and avert further crises.
