Who we are

Beans Is How is a campaign to double global bean consumption by 2028. Launched at COP27 in 2022, we are growing a global Bean Coalition – our network of partners.  The Beans-Is-How Coalition is designed to be  a committed and inclusive community dedicated to actions that contribute to doubling bean-consumption by 2028.

We invite organizations with the capacity to commit to bean-related initiatives that further our mission of doubling bean consumption to become Coalition members.

Inclusivity is a core value of the Beans Is How Coalition. While individuals may not be able to join formally as Coalition membership organisations, we warmly welcome their participation in Beans Is How campaign activities as our Beans is How Supporters.

Beans is How Coalition Membership

What does it mean to be a Beans Is How Coalition member?

Beans Is How coalition members actively contribute to our overall mission of doubling bean consumption. Our bean-criteria ensures coalition members are not only passionate about beans, but also have a strategy to deliver meaningful impact on our shared campaign goal.

Coalition partners meet two or more of our bean-specific criteria:

  • A Bean Strategic Plan:
    • A plan outlining organisational strategy to increase bean production or consumption…or both!
  • Measurable Bean Metrics:
    • A set of clear bean-related metrics to track progress toward the goal of doubling bean consumption
  • External Bean Advocacy:
    • External advocacy of our Coalition members promotes the Beans Is How campaign and the nutrition-climate-nature benefits of beans
  • Collaborative Engagement:
    • Our members actively engage with us via reporting back, to share best practices, results and support the wider Beans is How community in reaching the goal of doubling bean consumption.

In return, our Beans Is How Coalition members receive:

  • Public recognition via Coalition member profiling on our website, and our newsletter, at events and in our Beans Is How speaking opportunities
  • Exclusive bean-content including our monthly newsletter, early access to campaign updates and publications
  • Networking opportunities including webinars and events where coalition members can connect with each other and with experts in the field
  • Access to expert resources and information to help upskill Coalition organisations and spread the number of beans champions
