Beans is How and the NYC Mayor’s Office of Food Policy and have teamed up to champion bean-based dishes on menus and raise awareness about the benefits of beans.
Aligning with Climate Week NYC from 22 – 29 September 2024 and beyond, NYC Agencies, partners, restaurants, chefs and influencers are helping make beans more visible, accessible and exciting to diners, encouraging a shift towards more healthy and sustainable diets.

As Climate Week NYC wrapped up, Chef Grace Ramirez took the opportunity to champion beans, sharing her passion for cooking and her heritage with older adult communities across the city.
From Union Settlement to Greenwich House, Chef Grace engaged participants with delicious bean recipes and insightful cooking tips on enhancing flavors using herbs and vegetables. She also shared her personal cooking journey, inspiring all with her culinary expertise.
Her dynamic visit highlighted the versatility, flavor, and health benefits of beans.
#BeansOnTheMenu is led by the Beans is How Coalition, an effort by over 100 organisations to double the global consumption of beans and other pulses by 2028. In addition to being delicious and affordable, beans also help improve nutrition and regenerate soil, reducing the impact of climate change. Tiny but mighty, beans are a solution for improving the health of our population and our planet.
