“It’s a real thrill to be launching “Bold Beans: Recipes to Get Your Pulse Racing into the world”, filled with recipes that will excite and transform how people use beans. There’s something for everyone, including vegan, dairy and gluten-free.

I can’t wait to see people cooking from it – whether that’s our weeknight wonders or weekend bean-feasts for friends and family. I see this as a huge milestone for beans; not only are we able to celebrate their versatility in the kitchen, but through the contributions from leading food writers and chefs, this book is representative of  a bean movement that we are starting. Bring it on!”

Why Beans?

“The bean and legume family in all its many varieties – are incredibly diverse. There are hundreds of different types of beans, all with different nutritional values and traits to withstand complicated climatic contexts including droughts and poor-quality soils – not to mention different tastes!

As one of the world’s most versatile and commonly eaten foods, beans are one of the quickest routes to putting affordable, nutrient rich food on the table as well as replenishing the planet.

How? The challenges facing global food production are immense. Beans, however, showcase one of the best tools we have at our disposal to mitigate and disrupt this cycle: diverse, resilient and simple to produce ingredients.

In this context, the humble bean provides a valuable lifeline, not just for farming households in rural communities who produce these crops, but also for the billions of people all over the world who rely on farmers for this produce. Research and innovation are providing the world with new bean varieties to meet the demands of a growing population and unchecked climate change.”
