Nairobi, Kenya – 6th August, 2024
The Collaboration
The #BeansOnTheMenu initiative aims to transform the culinary landscape in Kenya by encouraging restaurants to incorporate beans into their dishes. By partnering with restaurants, chefs, and food enthusiasts, this campaign seeks to elevate beans as a way to encourage healthier and more sustainable food choices. The initiative will feature a series of events, meal promotions, and educational programs.
Beans are a nutritional powerhouse, rich in protein, fiber, and vitamins and minerals including potassium, iron, and B vitamins like folate. They are also a sustainable crop, able to fix nitrogen into the soil, requiring less water and generating a smaller carbon footprint compared to other protein sources. By integrating beans into their menus, restaurants can offer healthier choices to their patrons while supporting local farmers and contributing to environmental conservation.
The collaboration between EatOut and Beans is How is a natural fit, as both organizations share a commitment to promoting healthy, sustainable food choices. The #BeansOnTheMenu initiative will debut during Nairobi Burger Week, a popular annual event that celebrates the art of burger making and brings together food enthusiasts from across the city.
