What a day it was at the #SouthAfrica Chefs’ Manifesto Action Hub! An enthusiastic gathering of chefs, culminating in a bountiful array of knowledge and perspectives.
The highlights:
👉A warm welcome from Dr Hema from FERL, Vice President Coovasham Pillay from SA Chefs ...Association, and Chef @lornamaseko
👉Cooking demonstrations: @chefmokgadi_itsweng and @chefpinkydread - ingredient swaps to bring indigenous foods back into our homes
👉Decolonising our food system to harness the power of our Indigenous foods for Food security and Planetary health - An incredible panel featuring Dr Hema Kesa, Dr Brittany Kesseman, Chef @eat_to.thrive, Josephine Katumba @gcwalisa_sa and Siphiwe Sithole from @africanmarmalade
👉A fantastic display from @gcwalisa_sa and the local ingredients they have in their community-focussed retail store that aims to re-introduce indigenous ingredients back into homes.
